Papaya The French GardenV
Dubbed by Christopher Columbus as “fruit of the angels”, papayas are native to the Americas but are now an internationally enjoyed fruit. When ripe, the fruit feels soft like a ripe avocado and the skin is orange in colour. The black seeds are edible, but they have a peppery flavour, and so the creamy, ripe fruit is usually eaten alone. The unripe fruits can be cooked, in curries or stews. Due to a high amount of pectin, papaya can be used to make jellies, sweets or preserves.
