Can we feed the world sustainably? 08/06/2020, Health & Lifestyle

As we come out of this crisis, there is a sense that many of us are planning to change the way we live and work. So, what are you planning to change when it comes to food?

Here’s the second in a series of five 60 second films we’ve produced in collaboration with Farm Wilder. We are grateful to presenters Chris Packham, Professor Alice Roberts, Dr George McGavin and Miranda Krestovnikoff - experts making the case for environmentally friendlier meat.

The intensification of farming and concentration of supply chains over the past 40 years has come at a staggering cost to human health, animal welfare, biodiversity, water and soil health. Our current food system has become one of the heaviest contributors to climate change emitting as much as 30% of Global Greenhouse Gases.

In this film Professor Alice Roberts presents how our food production needs to thrive alongside nature as opposed to fighting against it. She explains how feeding the world sustainably is a viable proposition and highlights how grain-fed livestock needs to become a thing of the past.
