Fresh, fiery and flavourful leaves 10/06/2015, Producers

Who knew that fresh, fiery and flavourful leaves and herbs were grown in the urban centre of Bristol? It was Steve Glover who transformed Temple Meads' waste land into a fruitful market place. Now growing over 15 varieties of seasonal salad leaves and herbs that are packed and prepared for fresh-range delivery within hours of being hand-picked. Steve has recently opened up six acres more growing capacity in Whitchurch to supply the finest Bristol restaurants that choose Severn Project leaves.

As well as producing outstanding quality greens, The Severn Project works with people recovering from drug and alcohol misuse, offering them genuine agricultural skills, education and employment. Combining their passion for food with a desire to make change is what led George Ferguson, Mayor of Bristol, to congratulate them on their innovation: “The Severn Project ticks all the right boxes. It is an innovative social enterprise that helps individuals recover from drug and alcohol dependency through practical horticultural training. And it transforms waste ground such as the site adjacent to Temple Meads into a thriving market garden. I strongly support their work and ethos - it's a win, win.”
